- BALANCED FORCES are forces that act on an object in opposite directions and are equal in strength or magnitude. Balanced forces do not result in a change in the speed of a moving object and there is no net motion of the object where the force is exerted. Balanced force does not change the state or direction of the motion, for example, an object at rest.
- UNBALANCED FORCES are forces when two forces are unequal in magnitude but in opposite directions acting on the same object, their combined force is proportional to the difference between the two forces. There is net motion in the direction where the force is exerted has magnitude which is greater. For example: In the tug of war, the unbalanced force is applied by the teams.
