Blind spot is the small portion of the visual field of each eye that corresponds to the position of the optic disk within the retina. It does not detect vision as optic nerves and photoreceptors are absent from this part of the eye.

The two photoreceptors of the eye are rods and cones.

Rods are sensitive towards light, whereas cones are sensitive towards colour.

In the eyes of a daylight bird, more cones are present than rods. These birds are also called diurnal birds.

Whereas, in the eyes of a night bird, more rods are present than cones. These birds are also called nocturnal birds.
