Cell:
Cell is the structural and functional unit of living organism or it can be defined as membrane bound structure that occurs as a functional independent unit of life.
Examples of cell:
Bacteria, muscle cells, nerve cells, fatty tissue is made of fat cells, skin, bone marrow, pancreas cells etc.
Types of cell:
Cells are generally of two types:
1) Eukaryotic cell -
- It has a nucleus. It has many membrane bound organells(mitochondria, vacuole, endoplasmic reticulum, rybosomes, lysosomes, plastid in plants).
- DNA contained in "linear chromosomes".
- Cytoplasm is present.
2) Prokaryotic cell -
- It lacks a nucleus and most internal structures of eukaryotic cells.
- No membrane bound organells except ribosomes.
- DNA contained in circular chromosome
- Cytoplasm is present.
