Hi friend,

Cell is the functional and structural unit of life. They are the building blocks of life. Robert Hooke discovered cell of Cork (substance from bark of tree). He discovered cell in 1665. These were like small room and then he gave these small rooms as cells. The study of cells is known as CYTOLOGY. It has special components called as ORGANNELS. Cell has many organnels. This organnels perform different function of the cell, ie division of labour is there in the cell. It has organnels like-

<>Mitochondria (powerhouse of cell)
<>Plasma membrane /selectively permeable membrane/cell membrane.
<>Cell wall (only in plant cell).
<>Lysosomes (suicidal bags of cell)
<>Ribosomes (protein factory of cell.
<>Endoplasmic reticulum (of 2 TYPES- ROUGH ENDOPLASMIC RETICULUM (RER) and SOFT ENDOPLASMIC RETICULUM (SER).
<>Nucleus (brain of the cell).
<>Cytoplasm in which all other organnels float.
<>Plastids(only in plants).
<>Golgi apparatus.

Thus cell is the main thing in our body.

Hope it helps..
