The center of mass is the average position of all the parts of the system, weighted according to their masses. The center of mass is a pseudo concept used to solve problems and it doesn't actually exist.

For the bodies M1 and M2 the center of mass is a the point between the masses where the mass is concentrated.

Let M1 be at a distance x1 from the center of mass and M2 be at a distance x2 from the center of mass.

The position of center of mass (Xcm) = (M1x1 + M2x2)/(M1 + M2)
