centripetal force :

a centripetal force:

In circular motion the force acting on the particle along the radius and centre keep the body moving along a circular path .this forces called centripetal force.

  • centripetal force is necessary for circular motion.
  • it is along the radius and towards thr centre.
  • centripetal force is due to an interaction therefore it is a real force.

examples :

In an atom an electron revolves in a circular orbit around the nucleus.the centripetal force is due to the electrostatic force of attraction between the positively charged nucleus and negatively charged electron.
