Chemical equation - It is the symbolic representation of chemical reaction in terms of symbols and formulas of reactant and product.
Types of chemical equation :
1) Word equation - It is chemical equation in which reactants and products are written by using their names.
Example : Hydrogen + Oxygen Water
2) Symbolic equation - It is the equation in which reactants and products are written in terms of symbols and formula.
It is of two types :
- Unbalanced equation - The equation in which number of atoms present in reactant is not equal to the number of atoms present in product.

- Balanced equation - It is the equation in which number of atoms present in reactant is equal to the number of atoms present in product.
- example - 2 + 2
3)Ionic equation - It is the equation in which reactants and products are written in the form of their ions.
