A coalition government is a form of government in which political parties cooperate, reducing the dominance of any one party within that "coalition". The usual reason for this arrangement is that no party on its own can achieve a majority in the parliament.

In case , no single party gets a clear majority,the leader of two or more parties combined together or an alliance is called upon to become the prime minister and form the government. The government headed by such a prime minister is called coalition government.
