The process by which heat or electricity is directly transmitted through the material of a substance when there is a difference of temperature or of electrical potential between adjoining regions, without movement of the material is called conduction.

Explanation:

We know that a body can be charged by rubbing it against some other suitable body. If another body is brought in contact with such a charged body, it also gets charged. It acquires the charge of the same sign as that of the charged body.

If a positively charged body is brought in contact with an uncharged body, then electrons flow from the uncharged body to it and vice versa. Such a process is called charging a body by conduction.
