mannatmarya: Definition of conservation of momentum. : a principle in physics: the total linear momentum of a system of particles not acted upon by external forces is constant in magnitude and direction irrespective of any reactions among the parts of the system.

According to the Law of Conservation of Momentum : When two or more Bodies act upon one another, their Total Momentum Remains Constant (or Conserved) provided no external forces are Acting.

That is,

m[2] × v[2] + m[1] × v[1] = m[1] × u[1] + m[2] × v[2]
