Define conservation of momentum and its application.

According to it, the momentum of the particular body is constant if there are no external forces acting on it. It is also mentioned in the law of inertia which is the first law of Newton.

when two objects collide with each other ,the total momentum of the two objects before collision is equal to the total momentum of two objects after collision.
e.g. a bullet of mass m fired from a gun of massM with velocity v.the velocity of gun after firing is V
now momentum of bullet is mv
and that of gun after collision is MV
HENCE MOENTUM OF BULLET IS EQUAL TO MOMENTUM OF GUN .AS gun moves in backward side as comapred to bullet so moentum of gun taken as -ve
