CONSERVATION OF RESOURCES

irrational consumption and over utilisation of resources may lead to socio economic and environmental problems. resource conservation at various level is important to overcome these problems. in 1987 the brundtland Commission report extensively mentioned the necessity of resources conservation and advocated the concept sustainable development for this purpose.

Answer:

"Resource conservation" and "sustainable development", though looks like two similar concepts, but are two completely different concepts.

"Resource conservation" can be defined as conservation or saving of the resources that may or may not be severely depleted and resource conservation definition may often extend to completely stopping any use of that resource so as to prevent its depletion any further.

"Sustainable development" may be defined as the sustainable or retainable use of resources in such a way, so as to preserve the resources for the use of the future generations.
