Answer:

Actually lens is a transparent medium of which at least one surface is curved

Convex lens has many types such as plano-convex biconvex etc.

However Convex lens is called as converging lens cause it converges the light rays comming from an object to form an image vice versa for concave

Converging lens, focuses the diverging, or blurred, light rays from a distant object by refracting (bending) the rays twice.... This double bending causes the rays to converge at a focal point behind the lens so that a sharper image can be seen or photographed.

Convex lens is also called a converging lens because it makes parallel light rays passing through it bend inward and meet (converge) at a spot just beyond the lens known as the focal point. Photo: A convex lens makes parallel light rays converge (come together) at the focal point or focus.
