Rancidity

RancidityThe term ‘rancidity’ refers to a condition in which food has become undesirable. It is often used to describe the oxygen content of oils. It’s a term used to describe the oxygen damage in food. When oxygen molecules interact with the oil and food, the normal structure of the food is damaged, resulting in a change in odour and taste, and it is not recommended for consumption.

Explanation:

Prevention of Corrosion for several metals can be done through several methods such as Painting,Galvanisation(coating zinc on metal surfaces),Applying oil and grease. Rancidity: The process of oxidation of fat and oil due to which bad smell is produced is called Rancidity. For example Bad smell coming from pickles.

Answer:

Corrosion :- The process in which metal objects get corroded when the come in contact with moisture or Air. Thus the process is known as corrosion.

Prevention of corrosion :-

1)Galvanization :- Applying a coating of Zinc on metal surfaces

2) ElectroPlating

3) Greasing etc

Rancidity :- When the air tight food packages comes in contact with oxygen , give an unpleasant smell for which we can call the food or substance to be rancid, Thus this is know as rancidity

Prevention for Rancidity :-

1) To avoid substances or foods to become rancid ,there is need flushing the container or packages with nitrogen to restrict the unpleasant smell.

2) Keep the food in air tight containers

3) Or in Refrigerators etc.
