- In crystalline solids, the constituent particles which may be atoms, molecules or ions have highly ordered 3D arrangement which extends over a large distance. Thus crystalline solid have a long range order .
- A crystalline solid consists a large number of units called crystals .
- Crystalline solids have fixed melting point and changes abruptly into liquid, i.e.their cooling curve is smooth .
- Crystalline solids are anisotropic in nature, i.e., the magnitude of some of the properties such as refractive index, electrical and thermal conductivity, mechanical strength have different values along different direction that's why the arrangement of the molecule in different direction is different .
- They have definite latent heat of fusion .
- They are also known as True Solids .
