Cyclones form in the warm and moist air over oceans. The warm air rises into the atmosphere and , as it does so , more damp air fills the space behind . The strong winds start to form This air gets warmer and starts to rise as well. This process becomes faster and there is a cyclone. Thunderstorms come from mighty cumulonimbus clouds ( very big clouds ). Tornadoes form over land . They begin when a current of warm, moist air meets a mass of cold dry air. The rising warm air causes the cold air to be dragged down. The current of warm air rises higher and starts to rotate. Like tornadoes, waterspouts are rapidly rotating columns of air, but they extend from a cumulonimbus cloud down to an area of water such as pond , lake , sea , river .
