The highest or greatest degree of a variable in a polynomial is called the degree of a polynomial.

Example for degree of a polynomial

2x2+2x-364=0 Degree is 2

11x7+2×3-34x- 86=0 Degree is 7

The polynomial with different degrees are assigned different names. For example:

Degree 0 is called Constant Polynomial

Degree 1 is called Linear Polynomial

Degree 2 is called Quadratic Polynomial

Degree 3 is called Cubic Polynomial

Degree 4 is called Quartic Polynomials
