Density is a measure of mass per volume. The average density of an object equals its total mass divided by its total volume.

Answer:

Density of matter can be defined as the matter which has its own mass that means the amount of matter it contains and volume that occupies spaces.

Explanation:

As we know that, anything which occupies space and has mass is called matter. The space something occupies a volume and amount of matter it contains is its mass. The mass of the matter is constant but its weight is not because the weight of an object on the earth is the force with which the earth attracts. The matter weights more on earth than on the Moon because the force of gravity is greater on the earth. The density of a matter is the mass of unit volume of the matter.

So,

The density of matter = Mass of the matter / Volume of the matter

Therefore,

The density of a matter is directly proportional to the mass of the matter and is inversely proportional to the volume of the matter.
