Population density is the number of people living per square unit of area. It is generally expressed as persons per square kilometre. Population density also was greatly over the surface of the Earth. The population density of the whole world is 45 persons per square kilometre. It is derived by dividing the total population of the world by total area of the world. India's population density as a whole is 325 people per square km.
On the basis of density of population, the regions of the world can be classified into :-
● areas of high population density (above 100 persons per square km)
● areas of moderate population density (50 to 100 person per square km)
● areas of low population density (less than 50 persons per square km).
