Dielectric constant of a mediummay be defined as the ratio of thepermittivity of the substance to thepermittivity of the free space. Herepermittivity is a constant of proportionality that exist between electric displacement and electric field intensity. Its value is 8.85X10-12 F/m. It have no unit

The dielectric constant is the ratio of permittivity of the substance to permittivity of the free space. Since it is relative, the dielectric constant does not have the units. It is simply represented as numbers and which is always higher than 1. Because lowest possible permittivity is the permittivity obtained in vacuum.

SI unit of permittivity is F/m (Farad per meter). Vacuum permittivity is 8.85×10^-12 F/m.
