In biology, differentiation happens in all organisms during the early stages of life.  Differentiation results in different physical characteristics of different cells having the same genome and the same DNA sequence.

Differentiation is the natural process in which the cells or tissues of one type change into another type or a specialized form.  In the beginning embryo contains cells or tissues not too different from another in function.   This is the development process that happens in the embryo, when embryo and cells grow bigger.   The specialized forms will handle complementary specialized functions which make a complete self functioning living being.

The differentiation is due to the gene expression.  The impact of differentiation shows itself in size of the cell, its shape, potential of the membrane, and the metabolic activity.
