Diffraction is a bending of a light . it across the corner of a light . When the sunlight passes through or the cloud, a silver lining is seen in the sky.
Diffraction is evident when the sources are small enough that they are relatively the size of the wavelength of light.

Diffraction, the spreading of waves around obstacles. ... The phenomenon is the result of interference (i.e., when waves are superimposed, they may reinforce or cancel each other out) and is most pronounced when the wavelength of the radiation is comparable to the linear dimensions of the obstacle.
d = distance between slits
0 = diffraction angle
n = order number for the maximum
/gamma= wavelength
