The intermixing of two or more particles of matter on their own, is known as diffusion.

Lets understand this by an activity given below....

Take a Glass jar or beaker, and fill 3/4th of them with clear water. Then, put some drops of any colored ink, like blue or red.....after few seconds, you will be able to see that the particles of ink mixes up with particles of water.

This intermixing of particles of matter on their own is known as diffusion.
