Define disaccharides. Write structures for disaccharides in which glucose units are linked together in the following ways. i)  - 1,4 ii)  - 1,4 iii)  - 1,6 iv)  - 1,6

Answer :-

Disaccharide is actually a sugar formed when two monosaccharides are joined by glycosidic linkage. monosaccharides here are simple sugars.

Example of Disaccharide are as follows :-

1) Maltose

2) Lactose

3) Sucrose

Disaccharide  are soluble in water.

Plz find attached, structures for disaccharides in which glucose units are linked together in the following ways.

i)  - 1,4 - Maltose

ii)  - 1,4 - Cellobiose

iii)  - 1,6 - Isomaltose

iv)  - 1,6 - Beta Isomaltose
