when we we take the common multiplicant and multiply it by the sum or the difference of the other so that AxB+AxC(as the sign)=Ax(B+C), it is distributive property.
example
16 x 7 + 16 x 3
= 16 x (7+3) (distributive property)
=16 x 10
=160
