Precautions to be taken during droughts are :-
- Never pour down used water in drain. Use it to water the plants.
- Replace dripping faucets by replacing washers.
- Check all plumbing for leakages and get the faulty repaired by plumber.
- Take a bath by bucket rather than by shower.
- Use mulch to retain water in the soil.

evaporation and transpiration. Since, it is not being brought back by rain, the soil
becomes dry. The level of water in ponds and wells of the region goes down and
some of them may even dry up. The ground water may also become scare. This may
lead to drought.
