Define duns.Where are they situated? give some examples

Duns are narrow longitudinal valleys lying in between the Shiwaliks and the lesser Himalayas. They are formed by the deposition of sediments. The kashmir valley and the kathmandu valley are examples of dun valleys.
Dehra Dun, Kotli Dun and Patli Dun are some of the well known duns.
