define electric charge. state it's properties.
Answers
Answer:
the flow of electrons from negative terminal two positive terminal. is known as the electric charge
Charge
Charge is something which gives ability to a body to respond other charges or electric field.
or
Excess or deficiency of electrons produces charge on a body, charge on a body is due to transfer of electron.
Properties of Charge-
i) Additivity of Charge
Charge is simple additive in nature i.e. it follows simple algebraic addition or subtraction.
ii) Quantisation of Charge
Charge on any body is strictly in integral multiples of e(charge on electron) or the minimum possible charge on a body is charge on an electron
iii) Conservation of charge
The total charge of an isolated system is always conserved. Charge can neither be created nor be destroyed. It can only be transferred from one body to another.
iv) There are 2 types of charge- Positive and negative.
v) Like charges repel each other and unlike charges attract each other.
vi) Without charge mass is possible but without mass charge is not possible
vii) Unlike mass, charge is independent of speed of body i.i. whatever is the speed of an electron, the charge of an electron will remain constant.
