define elements.How are they classified
Answers
✒ An element is a substance that cannot be broken down into any other substance. Every element is made up of its own type of atom. This is why the chemical elements are all very different from each other.
✒ CLASSIFICATION OF ELEMENTS. Matter is classified into solids, liquids and gases. However this is not the only way of classification of the matter. It is also classified into elements, compounds and mixtures based on composition.
Answer:
An element is a pure substance which consists of only one type of particles. These particles can be atoms or molecules. For example Carbon is made up of only carbon atoms, gold is made up of only gold atoms, Hydrogen gas consists of Hydrogen molecules (formed from two atoms of Hydrogen) etc.
There are various element each of which have few roles, example-
Carbon-all living things have carbon. They help keep us alive.
Hydrogen-it is in the sun so that it helps warm the Earth.
Elements can be classified as metals, metalloids, and nonmetals, or as a main-group elements, transition metals, and inner transition metals.
Metals are placed on the left side side of periodic table as they lose the electrons easily while Non metals have the capacity to gain electrons and hence placed on the right hand side. and Metalloids are places in between the metals and non metals as they show properties of both metals as well as non metals. Actually it is by fortune that metals are paces on left hand side and non metals are placed on right hand side
