Endocrine - the glands which directly secret their products in blood stream. they are ductless glands.

Examples - pineal gland, pituitary gland, pancreas, ovaries, testes, thyroid gland, parathyroid gland, hypothalamus and adrenal glands.

Exocrine - the glands which secret their products by the duct. they are ducting glands.

Examples - sweat, salivary, mammary, ceruminous, lacrimal, sebaceous, and mucous.

EXOCRINE GLANDS

  • They are structure that release their products through ducts or channels.
  • Examples: Sweat gland, Salivary gland etc.

ENDOCRINE GLANDS

  • They are bag like structure that release certain chemical messengers known as HORMONES directly to blood stream to cause a response in a specific organ or group of cells.
  • They are released in trace amounts.
  • They DO NOT have ducts/channels therefore they are known as ductless glands.
  • Examples: Adrenal gland, pituitary gland etc.
