✔️✔️✔️Esterfication reaction:-
⭕️When an organic acid reacts with an alcohol in the presence of acid catalyst, it produces a sweet smelling substance called ester.
➖ In simple words:-
⭕️Esterification reaction the reaction in which carbo-oxylic acid combines with an alcohol to form an ester is called esterification it gives a sweet smell.
✴️️CH 3 COOH + C 2 H 5 0H ---------> CH 3 COOC 2 H 5 +H 2 O
✔️✔️✔️️Saponification reaction :-
⭕️Ester reacts in presence of an acid or a base to give back the
alcohol and the carboxylic acid. this reaction is known as Saponification because it is used in the preparation of soap.
➖️In simple words :-
⭕️Seponification reaction is what where the easter on treating with NaOH gets converted back to alcohol and sodium salt of carbo oxylic acid this reaction is called seponification reaction.
⭕️ It is used in the preparation of soap .
✴️CH3COOC2H5 -----------> CH3COOH + C2H5OH
✔️✔️✔️Kindly note the Differences too :-
⭕️Saponification means process of preparation of soap and Esterification means process of preparation esters.
⭕️Saponification involves reaction between carboxylic acid and a base whereas Esterification involves reaction between alcohol and carboxylic acid.
⭕️Esterification needs as a catalyst whereas Saponification do not need.
