Gaining of energy by water so that it converts to steam ( below the boiling point ) is what we know as evaporation . It depends on certain factors as :-
• wind : when wind blows , it takes little water droplets with it , thus increasing the rate of evaporation ( it happens when we dry the cloths on a string )
•heat ( temperature ) : heat accelerates the process of evaporation by providing enough energy to water to turn to vapours
• surface area : it is again directly proportional to evaporation as water evaporates faster from a wide petri dish than of a smaller opening one
•humidity : there a particular amount that the air can hold of water . So during humidity , when the amount of vapours increase in atmosphere , evaporation decelerates
