The process of fusion of gametes outside the body of the organism is known as external fertilisation. Disadvantages of external fertilisation :-
- Occurs in aquatic medium
- A chance factor is involved because synchronous release of gametes and proper turbulence of water are not sure to occur in the perfect time.
- There's no protection for the offsprings.
