The forefinger, the middle finger and the thumb of the right hand are held in the three mutually perpendicular directions and if the forefinger points along the direction of the magnetic field and the thumb is along the direction of motion of the conductor, then the middle finger points in the direction of the induced current.

A mnemonic concerning the behavior of a conductor moving in a magnetic field , according to which the directons of the magnetic field , the induced current and the motion of the conductor are indicated respectively by the first finger , second finger , thumb of the right hand when these are held out perpendicular to each other.
