If the weight of the object is bigger than the buoyancy, the object will sink to the bottom. If the buoyancy is bigger than the weight, the object will float. .......Objects like apples, wood, and sponges are less dense than water. They will float. Many hollow things like empty bottles, balls, and balloons will also float. That's because air is less dense than water.......The objects sinking or floating in water depends on the density of the object. If the object has more density than water then it will sink in water. Example of such objects is- rock, marble, steel, iron, copper, nickel, gallium, sand, beryllium and mercury.......

sinking-when object is placed over a liquid whose density is less than the density of the object the object sinks into the liquid.
floating-when an object is placed over a liquid whose density is more than the density of the object ,the object floats on the liquid
