A fold is a bend in the rock strata.Folding: Is a type of earth movement resulting from the horizontal compression of rock layers by internal forces of the earth along plate boundaries. A upfold are termed as anticlines. The downfolds are termed synclines. Folding.

Definition of Folding in Geography:

Folding is a diastrophic process which happens due to experience of high amount of pressure in the lithosphere region of the Earth. Due to high pressure the earth’s surface is moved upwards from its sides due to which the plates starts to move apart and leads to formation of geographical structures such as Mountains, Hills etc.  

Faulting is another process which occurs in the rocks. The crack in earth's crust in known as faulting.
