Push or pull of an object is force.

Contact force: In which the two bodies are in contact, one which applies the force and the other on which the force is applied.

Example: Friction, like in friction to surfaces must be in contact.

Other examples: muscular force.

Non contact force: The force in which the two bodies described above need not be in contact.

Example: Gravitational force: if you drop an object from your hand it will go towards the floor due to gravitational force clearly the two bodies ( the object and the earth) are not in contact.

Other examples: electrostatic force, magnetic force
