Friction:

Whenever a body move or tends to move over the surface of another body of force come into play which act parallel to the surface of contact and opposite to the relative motion this opposition force is called friction.

Example:

Take a wooden block place on a horizontal surface give it a gentle push the block slide through a small distance and then come to rest.

Factor affecting the friction:

i). Surface on which the object move or the nature of surface ,that is rough surface , smooth surface, liquid.

example: a object moving on smooth surface move better then on rough surfae.

ii) The weight of the object on amount of force on the surface by the object.

example: Two object A and B placed on table then. on A apply greater force then on B then A move long distance then B due to friction.
