Define force of friction. list the factors affecting the force of friction. Explain with answer
Answers
Answer:
Force of Friction: The force of friction is any force that opposes the motion of an object due to the contact of the object with other bodies.
Factors Affecting the Force of Fiction:
* Surface on which the object is moved or the nature of the surface. i.e., rough surface, smooth surface, liquids etc.
* The weight of the object or the amount of force on the surface by the object.
Answer:
Explanation:
The force that opposes any motion between 2 object that are in contact with each other is called friction. Ex. A ball rolling on the ground.
Factors affecting the force of friction are:-
1. Nature of the 2 surface in contact.
The force of friction is less if the surface is smooth and if the surface is rough, force of friction is more. Eg, sprinkling talcum powder on carrom board, the friction between the striker and the board is very much reduce.
2. Force pressing the 2 surface together.
Friction arises due to interlocking of irregulating between 2 surface in contact and it increases with increase in force pressing the surface as lighter object having lesser weight applied less pressing force. Hence, it's easier to push a lighter lighter box than the heavier one.
