WHAT ARE THE STAKEHOLDERS OF FORESTS?

A stakeholder can be a person, a group or an organisation that may be affected or have any kind of interest in the project or in the projects outcome either directly or indirectly.

  • The Forest Department of the Government which owns the forest land and controls the resources from the forest.
  • Industrialists who use various forest products for their factories.
  • Forest and wildlife activists who want to see the forests in their original form.
  • People who live in and around the forest and are dependent on the forest produce to lead their lives.

A stakeholder is someone with an interest or concern in something.

The key stakeholders are the FC, inscribed forest communities, forest-adjacent communities, lessees and concessionaires.

These are in direct contact with the forests almost on a daily basis in terms of management and use practices.
