formula unit mass:- formula unit mass of a substance is defined as the sum of atomic masses of constituent atoms in a compound. it is used for ionic compounds.

let's take an example:-

consider K2CO3
it's formula unit mass:-

(2×atomic mass of K) + (1×atomic mass of C) + (3×atomic mass of O)
atomic mass of K is 39
atomic mass of C is 12.
and atomic mass of O is 16.

(2×39) + (1×12) + (3×16)
=138 grams.

formula unit mass :- mass of any chemical molecule which is one unit is known as formula unit mass . it has same definition as molecular mass .

example :- H2SO4
molecular mass = 2×atomic mass of H + 1× atomic mass of S + 4× atomic mass of O = 2 + 32 + 64 = 98 g/mol or 98 amu

formula unit mass = 2× atomic mass of H + atomic mass of S + 4× atomic mass of O = 2 + 32 + 64 = 98 amu .

formula unit mass generally use for chemical compound , but molecular use for both compound or molecule ( e.g H2 , N2 , S8 etc )
