Define fossils.describe in brief two ways of estimating the age fossils.

Fossils are remains they may be bones but are not always bones,sometimes they may be rocks
carbon-14 dating, we know how fast carbon molecules "die" so we can look at them and determine how old stuff is.
They also determine it based on where in the ground they find it (how far down).

When organisms die there body decomposes. Sometime they are in an environment that does not let it decompose. Some impressions are preserved . All such preserved traces of living organisms are called fossils

Two methods for determining age of fossil is :-
Excavating
Carbon dating method
