Answer:

The force which opposes the motion of an object is called friction force

MORE TO KNOW -

It is Contact force and always acts in the direction opposite of motion.

Types of friction force-

i) Static

ii) Sliding

iii) Rolling

- Static friction occurs when an object just tend to come in motion.

- Sliding friction occurs when an object slide overs the surface.

- Rolling frction occurs when an object rolls over the surface.

Static > Sliding > Rolling

How friction is usefull ?

i) We are able to walk because of friction.

ii) Vehicles moved on road because of friction.

- More the irregularities in the surfaces, higher the friction.

- It can be slow down by smothning the surface.
