Friction is a force which opposes relative motion.

It means if two objects are there and one is moving on another, then there is a force which tries to oppose the object to move.

It occurs because particles of the two objects start making bonds with each other and makes it difficult for the two objects to move.

If it occurs in two solid bodies, it is simply called frictional force while when one is a fluid it is called drag force.
