"Funicle is a term that is derived from the Latin word ""funiculus"" meaning ‘slender rope’, is the stalk like structure in plants which attaches the megasporangium or ovule to the placenta of the ovary. It is a strand of conducting tissue which provides nutrients to the ovule via the placenta from the chalaza. Chalaza refers to the basal region of the ovule.
