In the “Pre-cambrian” era , there was a single piece of land with water surrounding it all sides. The landmass was called the “Pangea” and the water body was called “Panthalasa”. But, with the passage of time , probably in the “Proterozoic”era the Pangea eventually got broken down in the middle, on one side, creating a groove. The water mass entering this groove is called “Thethys sea”. As of now it is the “Mediterranean Sea”. The southern part of pangea after breaking down in the middle is called the “Gondwanaland”. And the northern part is called the “Angaraland”.

Today, few countries to the south of Eurasian landmass are once a part of “Gondwanaland”.
