Due to application of modern techniques and assured canal and tube well irrigation, production of foodgrains has increased tremendously especially wheat in Punjab, Haryana and Western Uttar Pradesh between 1965 to 1975. This act was called as green revolution, which took place in India to develop the technique of farming for Good production of crops. It was different from traditional farming techniques as it encouraged the use of chemical fertilizers, modern machinery, HYV seeds, etc. In traditional farming methods it was not there, they us bullocks, sickles, manures, etc.
