Explanation:

The Heart is a fist-sized muscular organ situated between the two lungs and above the diaphragm in the chest. It is centrally placed but tilted towards the left side.

The human heart has four chambers -the left and right atrium, and the left and right ventricles. Blood flows from the upper chambers called atria to the lower two chambers called ventricles. The ventricles then pump the blood into the arteries to carry to the different parts of the body . Atria are smaller and thin-walled , whereas ventricles are bigger and have thicker walls. This is because atria receive blood whereas ventricles have to pump blood.

Answer:

The hollow, muscular organ that pumps blood through the body of a vertebrate animal by contracting and relaxing. In humans and other mammals, it has four chambers, consisting of two atria and two Ventricles.

The four main functions of the heart are:

  • Pumping oxygenated blood to the other body parts.
  • Pumping hormones and other vital substances to different parts of the body.
  • Receiving deoxygenated blood and carrying metabolic waste products from the body and pumping it to the lungs for oxygenation.
  • Maintaining blood pressure.
