Q. Define heating effect of electric current and derive it.
Answer:-
Heating effect of electric current:-
The effect of electric current in which heat is produced in the conductor when the current flows through it is known as heating effect of electric current.
Reason :-
The heat is produced in a conductor when electric current pass through it because when electrons drift from negative to positive terminal they collide with atoms which increase their kinetic energy and this temperature rises.
Derivation :-
According to joules law of heating the heat produced in a conductor depends upon following factors:-
- The square of the current pass through it.
- The resistance of a conductor.
- Time for which the current flows.
when we add all the term then we get,
proved..
Answer:
Explanation:
Generally a battery or cell is used as a source of electricity .Whenever we switch on the battery ,there is a potential difference in the cell to set the electrons move. For continuous electricity ,the sorce(cell) has to keep on expending energy.
The energy from the source is converted into useful work and the left over energy is converted into heat.
