The members of a series have same functional group. The physical properties(like solubility, melting point, boiling point, state) of members of a homologous series either gradually increase or decrease with increase in molecular mass.

__________Answer_________
HOMOLOGOUS SERIES :-
➡A series of organic compounds in which the same functional group substitute for hydrogen in a carbon Chain is called homologous series.
CHARACTERISTICS OF HOMOLOGOUS SERIES :-
- All the members of homologous series have same functional group.
- All the members of homologous series have same general formula.
- The change in properties of homologous series is because of Change in size of a alkyle group.
- Each successive member in homologous series differ by molecular formula ( CH2).
- Any two successive member differ by molecular mass 14u.
- Physical properties like melting point, boiling point, solubility in particular solvent also show gradation in homologous series . These are determine by Carbon Chain end.
- Chemical properties are determine by functional group.
